    Welcome to ProblemShared! We are really excited to have you on board.

    Your laptop has been shipped directly from Apple and should arrive in a few days, or it might have arrived already.

    Security is a top priority for us, so this guide will assist you in the setup process as it may differ slightly from your typical MacOS and Setup Assistant experience.

    We believe in cultivating a culture of Honest Security (https://honest.security/) by only obtaining necessary information from our colleagues' devices.  This includes performance metrics, software and hardware inventory, log in details, policy compliance, and tampering. We are committed to not engaging in invasive practices such as actively collecting device location (account log in activity and location is captured for security and risk control purposes), browser history (besides automated security alerts), files, sound, camera, keystrokes, etc.  If a need for your device's current location arises for

    1 - Open your new MacBook and start the Setup Assistant, following the prompts until you see the “Remote Management” screen. Click “Enrol”

    2 - You’ll be asked to log in with your Microsoft 365 account. If this is the first time you are logging in, you’ll be asked to configure Microsoft Authenticator and another form of authentication (most likely your phone number).

    3 - When the account configuration is complete, the MacBook starts importing configuration profiles - it might take some time.

    Policies and applications are downloaded, installed, and configured during this process, and mandatory applications will be installed:

    • Office 365 Suite, including Teams
    • Slack
    • Kolide
    • Microsoft Defender
    • AdminByRequest
    • 1Password

    If you are a MacOS user, you may notice that it takes longer to load when logging in. This is normal as MacOS is loading and applying all the policies.

    While the applications are downloaded and installed, you’ll be prompted to register the device. This step is necessary to enable the new Single-Sign-On (SSO Platform) features.

    Register Kolide

    Kolide is a platform trust application we are rolling out for everyone. This will allow us to check the device’s security posture at a login stage.

    Click the Kolide icon, then select “Register Device”. This will open a registration website where you should log in with your ProblemShared account. Follow the instructions until registration is confirmed.

    Managed AppleIDs (your @problemshared.net AppleID) can't donwload apps in the AppStore.

    We use 1Password as our password management solution and everyone has access to their own account. You should have received an invitation to register using your ProblemShared Microsoft account. This will allow you to log in to the application on your new laptop.
